Try Something New

Summer is almost here and all of a sudden everything seems more promising.The plants are in full bloom and the sun feels glorious on your skin. The longer days give you boundless energy, making you feel like it's possible to achieve all of your desires and dreams. Why not harness this energy, ride the wave of summer and try something new? Let's start together right now by embracing some easy and fun fitness goals and activities. Start by finding a workout partner or getting a group of family and friends together. Use the power of visualization to imagine yourself crossing that finish line and hearing the roar of the crowds. And don't forget to imagine how fit you will be. Recipe of the Month: Prep Once, Eat Multiple Times

Two great snacks that will give you the energy to embrace the next few months at their fullest: Peanut Butter Protein Balls and Greek Yogurt Veggie Dip.
Peanut Butter Protein Balls: Ingredients: 1 cup natural peanut butter; 1 cup honey; 1 cup old-fashioned oatmeal; 1 cup diced apricots; 1 cup sliced almonds; 3 scoops vanilla protein powder; cinnamon to taste. Directions: In a medium sized pot, heat honey & peanut butter on stove over medium heat until texture is runny; 2) mix in apricots, nuts, oats, & protein powder; 3) stir until all ingredients are well coated; 4) let mixture cool in fridge; 5) roll into bite-size balls.
Greek Yogurt Veggie Dip (Rachael Ray):
Ingredients: 2 cups nonfat greek yogurt; 1 tsp garlic powder; 1 tsp ground cumin; 1 tsp ground coriander; 1/2 juiced lemon; salt and pepper to taste. Directions: Mix and serve with assorted veggies for dipping.

It's time to focus on getting in shape and what better way then to take it outdoors. Enjoy long walks, runs, hikes and playing sports.
