Natural Cold and Flu Fighters

As soon as you feel any cold or flu symptoms, embrace some of these simple steps: Hydrate by drinking plenty of water and chai rooibus tea; Gargle with salt water to flush out bacteria and viruses; Keep your nose clean by using a saline nasal spray and tea tree oil steam; Visit the drugstore for some Oscillococcinum (OTC homeopathic remedy that is especially effective if used in combo with Tamiflu); Medicinal Mushrooms e.g., shitake, maitake, reishi are powerful immune stimulants; Elderberry Extract with Raw Honey; Rest-up with at least 7.5 hours a sleep a night; Eat plenty of chicken soup, olives, and citrus fruits; Do not share drinks or touch your eyes, nose, mouth. If you don't feel better after all of this, then call your doctor because you may need antiviral medication or antibiotics; if the latter, be sure to take probiotics as well.

Recipe of the Month: Prep Once, Eat Multiple Times

Tis the season for some of grandma's chicken noodle soup. A great recipe can be found on the Food Network: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/chicken-noodle-soup-recipe/index.html. Once prepared, store portions for this week in the fridge and portions for future meals in the freezer. Enjoy and stock up so you can keep that flu away.
