Boost your Metabolism, Have Energy, Weigh Less

Start every day with a healthy breakfast: Otherwise your body goes into starvation mode and your metabolism slows to conserve energy. Try a mix of lean protein, complex carbs and healthy fats. Add a glass of cold water to burn a few extra calories. Enjoy a fat-burning lunch: Strive for protein to build lean muscle mass (burns more calories than fat does). Add 2-4 cups of green tea to rid of an extra 5lbs a year. Snack on dairy: Calcium (and not as a supplement) helps metabolize fat. Choose organic: Pesticides disrupt thyroid function and slow your metabolism. Some foods have very little contamination so there is no need to go 100% clean. Eat it hot: Add some chile peppers for an extra metabolic spike. Get enough iron: Otherwise your energy and metabolism tank. Mix-up your workout: You burn more calories from variety and intensity, not length of time. Include strength training. Feel full faster. Fill your dinner plate with foods rich in Omega-3s. Get 7.5 hrs of sleep each night. Otherwise you are at risk of increasing your BMI. Recipe of the Month: Prep Once, Eat Multiple Times

Have a metabolism boosting, tasty, organic, simple July 4th BBQ...fajitas:

Step 1: Marinate organic chicken, shrimp, steak, peppers and onions in ziplocs
Step 2: Put sour cream (or greek yogurt), salsa, guacamole in serving bowls
Step 3: Cook black beans (canned are easier)
Step 4: Grill the marinated goodies and whole corn tortillas
Step 5: Invite your guests to make-their-own fajitas
Step 6: Save the leftovers and eat in various ways all week
